Network Time

Keeping a device's time synchronised is critical for accurate time stamping of events and checking validity of time-bound security credentials.
To address these use cases, Blecon Devices maintain a UTC clock which gets synchronised with the Blecon network upon each connection.
The clock is incremented locally by the device and therefore subject to the stability of the underlying hardware clock between synchronisations. This clock might therefore go back or forwards when synchronised.
The time is stored as the number of milliseconds since the UNIX epoch (00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970).
